Result of OG12 Diagnostic Test
Finally after a lot of procrastination I took the first full length test though it’s only a diagnostic test. I was expecting to perform better on PS and average on DS. I was not expecting any magic on Verbal but the result revealed something else. As far as sitting at a stretch is concerned, I found myself comfortable and I was quiet able to concentrate as well.
Here is the result:
1. Problem Solving: 15 correct out of 24, less than 2 minutes per question
OG Interpretation: Average-Above Average
2. Data Sufficiency: 15 correct out of 24, less than2 minutes per question
OG Interpretation: Average-Above Average
3. Reading Comprehension: 14 correct out of 17, about 2 minutes per question
OG Interpretation: Above Average
4. Critical Reasoning: 12 correct out of 17, above 3 minutes per question
OG Interpretation: Above Average
5. Sentence Correction: 10 correct out of 10 with 3 minutes per question
OG Interpretation: Average
It is pretty clear that I need to push my score in PS & DS at least by 5 more corrects as a next step. Almost all of the mistakes that I did were extremely silly except 2-3 understanding errors. I can take this with a pinch of salt considering if I concentrate seriously on my next test, I will be able to get more than 20 corrects in both PS & DS.
As for verbal, to my surprise I did pretty well on RC but I would have been more happy had I got a few more questions correct. Critical reasoning was a fire zone for me. I always used to say it to myself that you need only common sense to solve the CR questions. All you have to do is put yourself in the situation and imagine what will you do? But now I understand that in addition to this just common sense, there is something else as well necessary. A framework that would enable you to think in certain direction leading you to the answer in 2-3 minutes. Even though I was above average at CR, amount of time I took to solve each question was over 3 minutes and that’s a sin! I need to read some theory on CR.
SC was average as expected. I had set target to myself that I must perform at least in Average category if not Above Average or Excellent. I have just done 3 chapters from Manhattan SC Guide so it is a clear indication that I need to go thoroughly this guide.
Well, so this was it. I am planning to take GMAT Prep Test 1 sometime next week. I will be done with the Geometry Guide by then and a few more chapters from SC Guide.
